A Thank You to 2014

Benjamin Carson once said, “Through hard work, perseverance, and a faith in God, you can live your dreams.” I believe with all my heart that a balance of these attributes will make dreams come true. It doesn’t mean they come true over night. It doesn’t mean it’s easy. And your dreams may change over time as God continues to direct your path, but the key to this is movement. Life is a beautiful journey that unfolds sometimes quickly, but usually slowly with great detailed lessons to be learned. I am thankful for the stressful moments, the moments of concern, and then also of joy and happiness that 2014 brought!

2014 has been an incredible year and I have learned more this year than most. My dream of running my own wedding and event planning company came to fruition this year! It took five years of learning and working at events for experience to build my portfolio, to bring me to this full year of events! It has been a joy to see a fun and packed season begin and end. From May through October Megan Elise Events had 13 weddings and then one in December! Backyards, LA, San Diego, Pasadena, Lake Gregory, Rancho Cucamonga, Camarillo, Arizona, Dana Point, and more, we were all over the place! That is one of my favorite things about being an independent coordinator is the many locations I get to work with and see! It made for a special year.

Vendor shout outs: Special shout out to Elysian in LA and Huron Substation in LA, thanks for adding me to your 2015 preferred vendors lists! Excited to work with you all again in the future! Christa Suppe, I continue to enjoy working with you! Your pictures are beautiful and I love how our styles mesh together. You’re a joy to be around, take lovely photos, and have the bridal parties in the right place at the right time, which every coordinator appreciates greatly! Chadwick Trentham, it’s always a pleasure working with you and being able to look at my events in the end in such a stunning way! Los Angeles Floral Couture continues to produce lovely bouquets and arrangements and has the kindest heart, it’s always a pleasure working with you when I can! It was fun being on Style Me Pretty and Ruffled Blog with some of you too! Hoping to work with all of you lovely people more in 2015 and be on more blogs with you and some of the other great vendors I’ve met along the way!

To my brides: To all my brides, you are lovely. Honestly, everyone always asks what it is like to deal with a bridezilla, and I’m thankful to be able to respond saying, “I don’t know!” because you have all been so kind, so fun, so creative, so patient, and so beautiful! It makes it easy to promote business with pictures of beautiful couples! Thank you for hiring me, for trusting me, and for letting me be a part of your amazing days! I love my 2014 brides!

To my day of assistants: To my friends who have helped the day of a wedding, you know who you are…and you really know that I could not have made those days possible without you! Thank you for giving up your Friday, Saturday, or Sunday to work alongside me, to do the dirty work, long drives, late nights, staying till the bitter end, having to deal with unique situations on the spot and make solutions before a bride and groom notice any potential issue, you all were my life savors time and time again! Thank you for being amazing!!!

To my parents: Thank you for being there for me through all of this, encouraging and believing in my ability to plan and coordinate these beautiful events, I couldn’t have done it without you! I appreciate you both so much and would not have made it to this point without your support and your help! Love you both so much!

The Conference: A few years ago I would have never guessed that I would have planned a women’s conference. {Be}Loved was an amazing experience that I am still blown away by. To all my friends who helped with setup and running everything that day, to my friends who lead worship and did an incredible job, to the women in my life who have been mentors or examples of Godly women to me who lead breakout session, to the two wonderful main session speakers, the women who helped with all the decorations, to Glendora Florist for donating flowers for decorations, to Classic Coffee and Chick Fil A for giving me discounts for our food and snacks, to PFB Purpose Church for backing this event, and again to my parents for supporting this in more ways than one, THANK YOU!!! This event was something God laid on my heart and it was so clearly prayed over by so many, I was speechless afterwords to realized how these women participated and attended were encouraged and inspired because of this day. This event came together because of friendships anchored in Christ, because of communication between people with similar passions, with the same belief that God has great plans for our stories to speak life and hope into the lives of others. There will be a {Be}Loved2015, so if you missed this spectacular day, stay tuned so you can come to the next!

In 2014 I graduated from Azusa Pacific University with a degree in Communication, an emphasis in Interpersonal and Organizational Communication, and a minor in marketing. I was the President of the University Choir and Orchestra at APU and planned our 11 day tour we had in May, 2014. I was in one of my best friend’s weddings (Love you Roomie!), planned 15 weddings and one conference, started Grad school at APU working on a Masters in Leadership and Organizational Studies, have worked part time in the Seminary at APU, and moved into a house with 5 wonderful women, the hidden gem of a house we refer to as the Debutante. To say the absolute least, 2014 has been a blessing. Through trusting God, hard work, and perseverance I have seen and felt God's faithfulness in my life. I am excited to see what God has in store for 2015! A few weddings already lined up, new opportunities, hopefully some travel, and many more memories to be made with friends and family!

Cheers to 2015, Happy New Year friends!

Congratulations to all the couples married in 2014 with Megan Elise Events!
